Highresolution Paleoclimate studies in Herbstlabyrinth-Adventhöhle

The Herbstlabyrinth-Advent-cavesystem near Breitscheid is the longest cavesystem in Hesse, central germany. Several stalagmites from different parts of the system will be sampled and dated using the Th/U-method.

A cavemonitoring program is already setup in the cave. The main goal is a better understanding of the processes influencing the different proxies in the speleothems and how they are transported in this particular cavesystem. This can be regarded as a prerequisite to better understand the stalagmites in terms of past climate variability.
