Ihr Hauptziel ist es, Sedimentgesteine (Karbonate, Tone, Schiefer) zu nutzen, um die vergangene Meereschemie und die biogeochemischen Zyklen der Erde zu rekonstruieren, insbesondere in Zeiten schneller Klimaänderungen. Zu diesem Zweck analysieren wir nicht nur Sedimente, sondern auch moderne Analoga, wie Flüsse und Böden. Die Gruppe untersucht auch die künstliche Beschleunigung der natürlichen biogeochemischen Zyklen, um CO2 schneller aus der Atmosphäre zu entfernen.
